Mike Kauffmann 2020 livery

Please take your time, you are going to see a child dream come true.

Sometimes dreams comes true.
My father was a mechanic, I grew up in his garage and passed many times in Dijon-Prenois track’s paddocks during trackday. As a teenager I fell in love with the japanese car culture, and drift took a BIG place in my heart ! For me it’s a huge pop culture mouvement, there is so much different styles in only one practice. At this time I wanted to be a car designer and that’s how I discovered my real place in this world, in Art. And one day, without knowing that, Mike Kauffmann, the world rewarded french drift driver, gives me the opportunity to work on my child dream with my adult eyes.

He ask me if the idea of giving me carte blanche for his new livery interested me.
I said ... Yes (in my head I was screaming like a teenager in front of a star)

We had only ONE condition,
THE NEW LIVERY HAD TO BE READY FOR CFP3 (Crepery Factory Party 3)
One of the biggest french drift event.

So we did it ! ヽ(ヅ)ノ
Everything is goddam possible !

CHAPTER 1

CREATE IT
First I had to put my ideas on the car, by using a cheap reproduction on Photoshop.
This part was really exciting, it was the beginning of the adventure, but I was also nervous because a carte blanche isn't an easy task.

When my ideas started to looks like what I had in mind,
Julien Maud'heux (@julien_s13) gave me a proper version of the car modelized in 3D.
And wow ! The result was so cool, this crazy idea became more and more real, and Mike loved it too.

CHAPTER 2

DIGITAL TO IRL
Now everything was good, Mike validate everythings and sponsors was ok too.
So I had to prepare the files for the printing ! And how you can see on the 3D version I decided to use fluo colors AND HOLOGRAPHIC texture ! It means a lot of elements impossible to print with a classic CMYK.
I prepared all the set with the fear to forgot something.

That's funny how it's look like the stickers I used to make 1/18 models when I was kid.

CHAPTER 3

IT'S ALIVE
Time to work hard now !
We drove 4 hour from Paris to Nancy with my best friend Brice Beldjilali (photographer who followed the entire project) to met Mike and his car !

At this time we had 24 hours before the departure for the CFP.
We worked day and night. It took 12 hours to finish the livery.
