Technology & Surveillance

llustrations representing different cases of technology surveillance, commissioned for a presentation by The Danish Institute of Human Rights.
The cases and scenarios aimed to depict how technology, algorithms and personal data, despite playing an essential role in our daily life, still have these dangerous gaps where we don’t have enough control over their power and decisions; such as surveillance and social control, digital exclusion of vulnerable communities and elderly people, data protection, algorithmic decision making on sensible topics, hateful content in social networks, the dangers behind popular online content for kids, amongst others. Each illustration represented one of these specific topics as a backdrop to further discuss with the audience.

In terms of creative styling, the DIHR wanted to show this data and techy project through a handmade illustrative technique, in order to bring some human touch into the mix. 2021.
